That is a great question. Yes, I have a dedicated office at home. I don’t work there a large portion of the time. I prefer to be curled on the couch. However, when I need to focus, meet a deadline or the kids are interrupting, I flee there. The couch they can disturb me on, but if I shut the door to the office, they know there needs to be blood or fire involved before they bother me. It did take some time for my family to comprehend that this was a “real” job and give me space and time to do it. I would definitely recommend having a dedicated space, even if it is just your dining room table or a small desk in the bedroom — anywhere that you can signal that you are “at work.”
