I don’t think this is true, either. I think, actually, it might even be a more wrong statement than it is right. Religion is a very emotional thing, and what you described is a very logical reason to believe in that god is supposed to be a logical explanation for phenomenon. But I think most people actually stick with religion because it makes them feel purposeful, and especially in a community, the emotional-social factors can be overwhelming.
