Solid comment. I’ve noticed that conservatives and libertarians and the “individualist” ilk claim that businesses should be able to discriminate against whomever they want, for whatever reason (which is 99% religion). But this seems to contradict free market economics, which conservatives and libertarians and the “individualist” ilk all claim is a cornerstone of a successful society. If a person wants to purchase from a business, and is refused by the business, that business is no longer acting like a rational actor, if they are able to sell their goods at fair market price, and the whole free market they love goes to waste. Or, it doesn’t, and it just promotes de facto segregation because all the gay people who want cakes have to move to a new town, but then I guess the conservatives win because they get their homogeneity and their right to discriminate.
