Well, some of those sensors…

I’m doing research in IoT + agriculture and quickly discovering that Li Ion batteries, for all their storage capacity, aren’t always the right tools for the job. Not that every IoT device needs to use Li Ion, but the tech in Li Ion seems to be reaching a plateau in terms of storage capacity vs size, so it’s unclear weather there will or won’t be another leap in this kind of battery tech, which is already considered in many ways the pinnacle.

The other side of this is that many sensors will be connected to a battery source — the sensors I’m working on, for example, are hooked up to solar panels. They’re not “on the grid” but they need to be recharged reliably.
