Yeah this is what I meant. The jobs in 11 and 13 are revenge, 12 a direct result of 11, the group isn’t “rag tag misfits who learn to work together” —they’re mostly friends that have history and banter. I feel the description didn’t actually describe the movie to a point of misrepresenting what the entire movie is about. The rest of the premise of a piece I pretty much agree with, but by using a reductionist plot, the author sets up low expectations for Ocean’s 8, which is capable of being an original movie with a stellar cast. But you probably wouldn’t think that if ocean’s 11 is described so mundanely. Like if the original Ghostbusters was described as “rag tag graduate students who start a business for old time’s sake”, it would make any remake seem destined to fail.
