Poison

Militarism is a poison for social movements. It’s social waves come in, and while giving some oomph to movements, always implants a terrible machismo and acceptance for intolerable violence. It can take a promising social movement in Venezuela and inject a dangerous machismo that unravels any gains. It can rip out any notion of freedom and democracy. Military and the political actors involved in it strive for nothing but power. Whether its a right or left, the only things military's crave is power in its most violent forms and they are dedicated to winning that.

Beware of berets and officer positions: no liberation can be seen on this horizon, only a reshuffling of the political order.
