McDonald’s Coffee is now 30% more expensive! Unveiling the Fascinating World of Fast Food Pricing Trends
The seasonal price hike at McDonald’s has left us in awe! Just a few months ago, in June, we conducted a price check, but the recent price increase is far from insignificant. Let’s dive into the numbers:
📈 On average, the menu is now 6.14% pricier.
🆙 The median price has seen a bump of £0.2.
💰 The biggest price increase in terms of pounds goes to the Big Tasty, up by a whopping £0.5 or 6.5%.
📊 Double Espresso takes the crown for the steepest percentage hike at 30%.
🥤 Among the top 30 items with the largest percentage increases, 22 are beverages.
🌟 Bestsellers that have seen substantial increases include Diet Coke (+15.5%), Hamburger (+15.5%), and Cheeseburger (+13.42%).
🍟 Some of the beloved classics also experienced slight price hikes, with Medium Fries at +5.39%, Big Mac at +4.36%, and 9 Chicken McNuggets at +3.71%.
But here’s the twist! During the same period, KFC UK & Ireland barely touched their prices, with only three items out of 150+ getting new price tags. On average, their menu became only 0.1% more expensive.
What can we gather from this data? 🤔
🤝 McDonald’s and KFC operate in the same market with similar suppliers, but they handle price and salary increases differently. McDonald’s opts for frequent, modest price increases, while KFC takes the opposite approach.
🥤 McDonald’s seems to believe that customers are less price-sensitive when it comes to drinks and more so with food.
🥃 Interestingly, small drinks and snacks have seen a 50% higher price increase than their medium or large counterparts (Small Coke +15%, Medium +11%, Large +9%).
