Going through the City of Samaria
John Chap 4
Woman @ the Well
At the 6th Hr Jesus sat at the Well. “Jacob’s Well”
A Samaritan Woman walk’s to the well alone.
(J.C) to (S.W) “Give me a Drink”
Jews had no dealings with Samaritans; non of the less a Samaritan Woman and a Jew man; so she’s questioning why He is asking her for a drink.
→ The seed.
(J.C) “If you knew the Gift of God, and who it is who says to you, “Give Me a drink” you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Interest has surfaced within the Samaritan Woman.
(S.W) “Where then do you get this water?”
→ The Soil.
(J.C) “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst, but the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
(S.W) “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”
The test of honesty w/ (S.W)
(J.C) “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
The Samaritan woman could have easily lied to avoid being shamed or look down upon by Jesus but instead she was truthful.
(S.W) “ I have no husband”
(J.C) Well said, “I have no husband”.
At this point Jesus revealed information to her that he wouldn’t have known unless……..
Now her mind is trying to put the pieces together understand what just happened.
→ The water.
(S.W) “Sir, I perceive that you are a Prophet”
I guess she wasn’t putting 2&2 together the hints He was feeding her with…..
→ Then there comes the Sun!
(J.C)”Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
(S.W)”I know the Messiah is coming.” “When He comes He will tell all things”
(J.C) “I who speak to you am He”
Man, how beautiful is that; no matter how many times I read that I find my self always picturing myself there. Hearing and seeing Him say that; what an honor that would have been.
The Samaritan woman received the word & believed.
The Samaritan Woman ran into the City to proclaim all that had happened; and many more heard and believed because of the word of the woman who testified.
Many can read this same chapter and view it in different ways; what are your thoughts regarding this chapter?
