Fernando Zobel

Fernando Zobel wasn’t able to talk for a year so the only way to communicate is with the use of paper and pen. That’s the time when he started becoming an artist. His artwork became his legacy, envisioning the foundation of an art. His works became an inspiration in the modern art by experimenting different materials to use to produce such masterpiece.
Gold of Ancestors

Art was applied in making gold because of mostly social, political and religion. The designs on the gold were very detailed and depends on the material they make, whether it is necklace, bangles or belts, you can’t simply wear it unless you have a position in the hierarchy. Neck ornaments were specifically made in signifying social identity; buckels, reaffirming the importance of marine life in providing sustenance for the early filipinos; Gold Regalla, it is a sash worn in a similar manner as the sacred thead and just one of its kind. Also, used as a halter during ceremonial weapon. Art that can be observed here is not just the details that the ancestors put on the gold but the gold itself made and transformed to something with a higher value is already considered art.
A Millenium of Contact

These pieces are the southest asian tradewares where Chinese trade these with different countries including the Philippines. I guess they make art for a living, for survival and for religion purposes as where the prints on the wares have their own trademarks and symbolisms.
