5 Steps to becoming a better man

A simple guide to becoming a better man.

The path to becoming a better man is not easy and can take a very long time without proper guidance. With these five simple steps, you will be going in the right direction and will make your presence a lot more enjoyable to have around.

“Be the man that women want and other men want to be”.

5.Start making decisions.

John F. Kennedy

You’re probably telling yourself “Hey!, I make decisions”, I am talking about life changing decisions, not if you want cream cheese or peanut butter on your bagel for breakfast. I assure you that there are a lot of men out there who choose to ignore issues and opportunities for fear of making the wrong decision. I am here to tell you, there are no wrong decisions in life, every choice you make will bring consequences and rewards, and those are what shape you as a person and help you become a better man. By making decisions you will show initiative and possibly influence people around you and encourage them to make the change to their lives that they needed.

“…as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

4.Know where/when to compliment women.

Don’t be that creepy guy that stares at women at the bar, you need to be what is known as “Alpha” rather than “Beta”. This just means that you should be confident on yourself. Women love men that have confidence leaking out of their pores, they can smell it from miles away. Be smart, funny and a gentleman and I assure you, women will go crazy for you. Although you should be confident and show character, you don’t want to come off as aggressive, men need to know when and where to compliment a woman and how to do it. There are really good books that you can read on the topic such as “No more mr. Nice guy” by Dr. Robert Glover.

3.Understand your power of will.

Martin Luther King

Put a due date on your goals and accomplish them by then, no excuses, no putting it off for another week. You need to learn how to set realistic goals and push yourself until you accomplish those achievements. A lot of men find this extremely hard due to the amount of distractions that we encounter in our daily lives. Don’t be “that guy” who has been saying “I’ll start eating healthy on monday”, be the man who others look to for inspiration and advice.

2. Have opinions but know how to back them up.

Muhammad Ali

You should have opinions on various topics but be ready to back them up when an argument arises. If you share your opinion but cannot back it up when challenged, know how to knock them out with your argument. You also need to know how to respect other people’s opinions as well even if they go against your beliefs, a difference between a good man and a great one can come down to how well they accept the people around them.

“You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant.”

1.Get friends that will help you become a better person.

A man is as strong as his best friends. Everyone should have a good group of friends that will have your back through good and bad and that will tell you when you’re right and when you’re wrong. You probably already have a group of close friends which is the hardest part, so now all you have to do is listen to them when they give you advice and criticize you. These friends are more likely to help you look at yourself from different point of views and will help you shape the way you deliver your opinion in a better way. Constructive criticism is an excellent way to better yourself as a person and if your friends do this for you then you are on the right path to becoming a better man.
