Living outside the USA as an American like I am you must at times be taken back by the overtly shallow acts of patriotism at sporting events and what not. I never thought a person loved their country more because they chanted “USA, USA” at an event or forced to stand and pledge allegiance to the USA during the 7th inning stretch of a baseball game.

Claiming America is the greatest nation on earth is patriotic rhetoric not based on facts as it isn’t mean to be factual but rather based on emotions.
