I haven’t written about them. Davy was a stray dog I rescued but he was very aggressive to cats and I had three. Try as I might I could not ease his aggression. One of my cats escaped outside and we found her body the next day in the woods. She had been attacked. My husband and I felt there was a strong possibility Davy did it. Seeing as we estimated him to be at least three years old, a change of disposition wasn’t likely so we gave him away to someone without cats. I knew we had to do it but I was brokenhearted. He ran away from his new home and was hit by car. I cried for days — for Davy and our cat Matisse. I felt that both their deaths were my fault.
Kodi was a black lab that I adopted from a friend who couldn’t keep him. He was two years old and an intelligent, comical 80-lb bundle of love. Unfortunately, he found a coral snake in our yard, getting close enough to get bit. He died a few hours later at the emergency room at the veterinary college.
