January 24, 2017 — North Central Florida

Nearly a month of non-stop work and I wish I could stay home and sleep. Days are long and nights are too short. Sleep does not come as easily to me as it does to my dog. And, when I finally doze off in the dark morning hours, looming deadlines disturb my sleep.

This morning I woke slowly and moved slowly as I readied grandchildren for school and drove slowly through the chilly morning air hoping the cold would slap me awake and quicken my step. It didn’t. A hot shower and strong cup of coffee did, however, and another day began.
