Being an exception from how it’s usually implemented in other languages doesn’t make it stupid. Follwing your argumentation anything else that does not adhere to the supposed standard would be stupid as well. Maybe ‘all’ the other languages, you are referring to, are doing it wrong. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It actually does not matter what they do. It’s a concise way for a commonly needed expression. As long as performance is not an issue, it should be used as a pythonic way to enumerate elements. Otherwise you can skip Python altogether..
