Dale Carnegie was born poor on a farm in Missouri. He later became a writer, and has developed many well-known courses in public speaking, self-improvement and training in corporations. He was the author of the popular book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, which is still around today.
1. Lead by Example
To be a leader, you must set a good example for people who look up to you. These behaviors and goals need to be defined, achievable, and communicated. By doing so, it is a shared sense of accomplishment. Make full use of the different skills each person has and achieve common goals together.
2. Value Those You Work With

4. Admit When You’re Wrong
It shows strength in a person by admitting your own mistakes. It is easier to trust and helps you gain more respect if you can own up to your own errors. In fact, it has been noticed that the most growth from a leader comes by the obstacles they have overcome.
5. Continue to Gain Knowledge
It has been said many times before, “knowledge is power.” Leaders must always remember that and continue to learn. Listening, reading and questioning are the foundations for success. To succeed in today’s world, a leader must always be open to learning new things.
