Vote For Me

A Poem

Vote for me.

No, I am not a candidate.

I am a child. I am the future.

I am the formerly incarcerated. I’ve done my time.

I am undocumented. I know no home but the United States.

I am homeless. I cannot afford the DMV’s new poll tax.

No, that ballot doesn’t just have a candidate’s name on it.

Turn to the other side. My name is there too.

Vote for me.
