California is far more of a schizophrenic battleground within itself than it is a unified force taking on the United States. It is a place where social engineering proxy wars parroting the ideals of external hopes will be fought; a microcosm of city versus country cultures and socio-economics at odds. The cities are belligerent and numerous but dependent. The countryside is traditional, ready to defect to the other side of the red line, but few in number. The siege is mostly defended by prideful bravado. The practical cards are pretty clear. It is a defensive position all to easy to outflanked by the Potomac.
