I will vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. No doubt.

Furthermore, I want to do my part by demonstrating publicly my unconditional support for her with this article and with the act of running to be one of her DNC delegates for my city of San Francisco.

Why Denzil for the Hillary Clinton delegate?

I am a first generation American millennial, who grew up here in the Bay Area before heading to MIT for a BS & MS in computer science. After I returned to San Francisco, I actively looked for ways to be involved in my community, even cutting time away from my full-time job as a software engineer at Microsoft.

I played an active role on the board of the San Francisco League of Women Voters from 2014 to 2015, encouraging voter education during elections and organizing events such as the “Women Who Could Be President” gala.

Recognizing the importance of education, I have been an adjunct professor at both Foothill Community College & San Francisco State University, teaching programming but more importantly, helping students utilize their talent and realize their potential.

Most recently, I interned with the Kamala Harris for Senate campaign, staffing events, compiling research, and aiding with fundraising.

Outside of those activities, I enjoy attending events hosted by San Francisco’s political groups where I have opportunities to meet brilliant women like Hillary Clinton’s Chief Technology Officer, Stephanie Hannon.

I also enjoy traveling. Most recently, I was able to visit Washington D.C. not only to see the Benghazi Hearings, but also to attend the Democratic National Convention’s Women Leadership Forum!

As you can see, throughout my time in San Francisco, I have dedicated myself to my community. More importantly, I have committed myself to my passions of equality, education, and youth.

Why Hillary for me?

That’s why I love Hillary so much. She shares my exact passions — equality, education, and youth — and has fought for those values over decades, time and time again. Hillary confidently advocates for her beliefs and capably creates actual, positive change. She fought for early childhood education; she has acquired an incomparable amount of foreign policy knowledge and expertise; she has actively defended school lunch and health programs; she co-sponsored an immigration reform bill in 2007 (one that Bernie Sanders voted against); she understands and has always fought for reproductive rights. She said “Women’s Rights are Human Rights”!

I’ve been enamored with Hillary since I was in high school, but I’ve never shouted my love from the rooftops. Hillary deals with so much hate on a daily basis, which trickles down to her supporters. In my experience, Hill folks are closeted because of the vitriol we face from pledging our support publicly. Our stances are aggressively questioned with intense interrogations, “How and why do you support her?” followed by condescending implications, “Oh, of course, a woman president”.

Well, I’ve overcome my caution and with loud sincerity, I’m here to tell you that Hillary Clinton is the clear best candidate running, regardless of gender and regardless of party. And I believe that 100%.

Hillary Clinton is confident and capable. Her bureaucratic experience is unrivaled by her competition and her skill with partisan conflict has been successfully tested. Most importantly, Hillary understands that conviction and policy are not the same; at the end of the day, policy is the best effort to take the convictions of multiple parties and put them together into concrete practice. She is flexible, having moved and evolved with the times and with the Democratic party, and I delight in her unapologetic ability to adapt.

Having seen her live at the Benghazi hearings, I prize her ability to stand under pressure. I admire that she hasn’t let past losses keep her from pursuing her dreams. I love that her hard work and determination is visible and undoubtable. Hillary shows up day in and day out under the glaring, critical microscope of the public despite the lack of sexy fervor her Democratic opponent garners.

While Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have serious differences, on the core issues, it is clear that they are moving in the same direction. Unfortunately, Bernie Sanders has a hyper-focused rally against Wall Street so his action plans are narrow-focused and not within structural realities. Hillary, in contrast, has several proposals in the same areas of concern but they cover a variety of solutions while also providing realistic, concrete calls-to-action for change. She is compromising and diplomatic, and there is no doubt in my mind that she knows how to work with both Republicans and Democrats. No wonder, she is the most establishment-approved candidate on record. To me, Bernie is inspiring, but Hillary is empowering!

Hillary is my kind of superhero, and so I hope you can see why she is my champion. There was never any question to whom I would throw my support and I hope you can see the passion that I will bring to my role as a potential delegate for Hillary. I have never wavered in my interest and support for her, and I will continue fervently to rally support for her.
