This is the Tale of The Gambler and The Fool.
The fool thinks he is doing something
that will get him a certain reward,
when in fact he is not.
He may get the reward anyway, but
it comes for reasons he does
not understand, and frequently,
someone else is manipulating him.
The gambler knows he is "cheating",
or taking a shortcut, but he does it
anyway, because he is distressed and
desperate. He refuses to see the better
option.
Well, gamblers,
are a special kind of fool.
They can win the rich man’s
money, but the real thing
the rich man had, is not
a reward to be handed out.
The gambler is seeking
the side effects of success,
not its essence.
He will never find it this way, and will
always lose the tokens he collects
around himself,
to hide himself in a shoddy reality.
Why does the gambler play his
morbid game of "Revolver Roulette"?
What is he thinking?
Perhaps he discredits
those he envies, and sees himself
as equally deserving. Perhaps
those who were once deserving, have
become fools, and the wolves are
circling right now to eat their fatted flesh.
This is the tale of the gambler and the fool.
