I remember reading this book as a teenager, and noticing that important fact regarding how they approached Bigger Thomas. They weren’t interested in his story or his life. They only seemed interested in this image that they wanted to see in him. In the book, Black Boy, Richard Wright’s own issues with communism mirrors that of Bigger’s.
