I’m a little puzzled by the “fish-bowl ball scene.” It seemed to be the climax of your article gauging by your reaction:
“I pretended I didn’t see them [throwing footballs, tennis balls and baseballs around] as I felt the red-hot burn of humiliation spread from my chest to my shoulders to my neck to my face and head.”
That is what guys from the midwest do to put up with the monotony of winter that you expressed and experienced. They throw balls around like their favorite sports stars. When they are brainstorming.
