Thanks for the great article. I friggin love it. Hopefully it means freedom for all. I suspect the phrase emerged from women not being vocal about their needs during sex and wasn’t meant as a power struggle. This article is tremendous evidence of breakthrough. And while I might have used such phrases because I wanted to ensure that my partner was enjoying herself, I had no idea it could be interpreted so negatively and so strongly. I sure as shit wasn’t engaged in owning … someone else’s … Ya, hasn’t entered my consciousness until before your article that that phrase could be interpreted that way. You are 100% correct in the literal/pedantic meaning of that phrase to assume that is what your partner meant. That’s why I love it. Shedding light on this is only going to help the gender divide. And honestly I was trying to steer clear of this joke that likely emerged in the baby boomer era where now you hear grandfathers quietly (and not in the presence of women) say, “ya, I don’t know what is going on these days. Back in the 60’s, I couldn’t walk across town without getting laid”. Which, me bringing up here might be offensive to some. Not sure why because they should be worry about themselves, but thats a different story. No, the WORSE case is portrayed in a joke I have long known. Jokes have a way of getting right to the point. They can have a bit of a sting due to the subject matter and tabooness of it but the good ones have truth behind them. But dang, if ever there was a place for a joke… Best left untold and things are probably best kept where you put them in this article. With women owning their orgasms and men not feeling guilty if women don’t speak up. I know I could use a break from that and could be a whole lot more selfish. Probably “do me some good”, like the Talking Heads song. Probably “do meN some good”.
