Bennie and Jordan — no. You’re both misunderstanding “Basic Income”.

A Basic Income, by no means, is required to be a person’s ONLY income. In fact, that’s one of its promising characteristics: People get it whether they are working to earn other money or not.

This is different than most countries’ welfare, which disincentivizes work, because often the free money disappears as soon as wages are earned.

Basic Income, thus, has less fraud, less overhead to manage, and fewer perverse incentives.

$5000 a year is just fine. It can take millions of people living on the edge, and pull them up.
