YWAM Colorado Springs
September 15th, being my birthday, I knew God had clearly opened the door for me to go. So, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
In September, I am planning to attend a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth With A Mission in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
My walk with God has been quite the journey! …and He keeps throwing me crazy turns. In 2011 I came to Baltimore planning to leave as a professional classical musician. Instead, I gained a burning heart for urban ministry and started pouring all of my time and effort into whatever place God led me. I was involved with launching a campus ministry at Peabody Conservatory, fighting sex-trafficking and injustice with Safe House of Hope, worshipping with my church family and other believers across Baltimore, doing international missions in Zambia and Romania, and most recently investing in urban community work with the Baltimore Symphony Orchkids program and the Greenmount West Community Association. For me, it’s been an amazing 5 years of growth but I feel as though the Lord is calling me to a season of equipping.
In January, God said to me “Go, be equipped. I am calling you to more!” At the time I didn’t know what that meant and I didn’t want to because I felt comfortable with what I was doing in Baltimore. Fast-forward two months, I was visiting a church on a Sunday morning and the speaker was preaching about obedience and I felt a conviction in my heart that I was supposed to go and be equipped. During lunch that day, I was looking at different ministry schools and stumbled upon the Business & Entrepreneurial school at YWAM in Colorado Springs. I was frustrated though because the program start date was in January. I knew I was to leave in the fall. Later that week, I woke up at 5am and heard God say, “Check the website again.” On the home page of the website it said, “Now announcing Fall DTS 2016 starting September 15th!” September 15th, being my birthday, I knew God had clearly opened the door for me to go. So, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
What is DTS?
Over the past 45 years, thousands of students have been trained through a DTS (Discipleship Training School) and most of them would say it is one of the most significant experiences of their lives. The DTS in an intensive Christian training course that consists of a three-month classroom/lecture phase followed by a 2–3 month international outreach into areas of the world that have little or no Christian influence. The DTS aims to encourage students to develop personal character and to cultivate a living relationship with God, and identifying their unique gifts and callings. Cross cultural exposure and global awareness are especially emphasized through the DTS, preparing students to reach the current and future generations. My DTS has a Business & Entrepreneurial influence aimed at developing students with business skills to use in the mission field.
What does it take?
I hope you see the value in what I am about to engage in and what I hope to accomplish by taking this step. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise $4,500 for the lecture phase and $3,500 for my outreach. If you can partner with me in a financial way, I would be very grateful. If you would like to be part of this mission and investment in my life through your financial support, you can give below 1 of 3ways:
