I assumed that the author was treating BLM as a response to racism rather than as an example of it—that is, that he was grouping three phenomena that have come to particular prominence in America in the last few years rather than grouping three examples of racism. His tone in the rest of the article is rational enough that to drop BLM in as an example of racism without comment seemed uncharacteristic.

However, that’s certainly not a hill I’m going to die on. I do wish he replied to comments so we might know. . . .
