I find it really funny that the subreddit is filled with frustrated users—myself included—but whenever OKC makes a change, everyone gets upset. So the site isn’t working well for a lot of people, but any attempt to improve it is met with outrage.
I think this is a great change. It removes a crutch and forces people to be more deliberate/clear with their intentions. There’s still plenty to differentiate OKC from Tinder/Bumble, but one thing swipe apps have shown is that *clear* indications of interest before someone sends a message improves the user experience. Reading the tea leaves of visitation patterns is a poor substitute for mutual likes. DoubleTake is probably underused right now, and I think OKC is right to steer people towards using it more.
