I met a man when I was working in the US in the early ’70s. He was a Corps man in Viet Nam and flew in Hueys, based in Da Nang. He was a gentle soul and a qualified engineer who was drafted but was a conscientious objector, so they put him in the front line. He worked with me in an Arby’s roast beef sandwich restaurant. He was a broken man.
