Senior Capstone

Hello there, My name is Amber Derousse and I am a fourth-year Interactive student at Maryville Unversity. As a fourth-year student, this semester I am tasked with creating a capstone project. This will take place as an independent course that is six hours long and is every Monday and Wednesday. As I pursue this project I will be keeping track of my process in the form of a blog. I hope you enjoy my journey as much as I will.

What is a Capstone?

Welp that's a very good question. Capstone is a multi-faceted project that serves as a culminating academic experience for students. As an interactive designer, I will be working to create, design, and prototype an interactive application.

This experience will provide me with the opportunity to apply my skills to an overarching idea that will be the centerpiece of my portfolio. In order to create such an idea I must ask myself a few questions.

What problems are we trying to solve?

Does it have rich design potential?

Is there a distinct target?

Do we have enough sound research for the idea?

Is there enough framework for design?

Now that I have started to think about what a Capstone is, I can start pushing forward with these ideas and create an interactive experience.
