I must agree wholeheartedly with alto. This is a remarkable piece of writing, Charlotte Franklin — I squirmed in my chair pretty much the whole time I was reading it, for several reasons:
- It felt like a very real analysis of a very real situation
- It was visceral and poignant
- It actually made sense, in a very twisted way, the thoughts that your protagonist was having — given his background, I found myself reflecting, how could he think any other way?
- Rape is a horrible thing and I avoid reading about it, if at all possible, as it makes me very sad and very, very angry to think that this actually happens. I could not stop reading this once I started, however, despite my discomfort, because it was so compelling
I look forward to reading more of your work, Charlotte, as this was tremendous!
