This whole Statue thing is just plain childish. It is amazing to me that in this country the Left is sooo offended by these relics of a day gone by, a history, that while distasteful, serve as reminders of where we came from, and help describe who we are now. As distasteful as slavery was, is this a cause to erase history?

In addition, strangely in the country of Brazil undoubtedly the Earths greatest slavery market in the known world. Brazil commanded over 40% of the world slave trade, that’s right! over 40%! Millions of African Slaves taken from the West Coast of Africa were bought and sold and died in Brazil. Brazile did not outlaw slavery until as late as 1888, 20 years after our American Civil War. Yet, the people of Brazil honor and cherish their landmark reminders of the slavery era, and recently the most infamous slave market in all the world located at Valongo Wharf and it’s associated slave market were awarded the UNESCO designation as a World Heritage site, and the Brazilians Celebrated the act!

In closing; Historian Katia Bogea, head of Brazil’s National Heritage Institute (IPHAN) argued before the UNESCO committee, honoring the slave wharf serves “to make us remember those parts of the history of humanity that must not be forgotten”. (Credit to the History Channel Article Titled “A Port Where a Million Slaves Were Trafficked is Now a World Heritage site” The full article can be found here: http://www.history.com/news/a-port-where-a-million-slaves-were-trafficked-is-now-a-world-heritage-site

So, if Brazil, the most egregious slave offender in the world can embrace their history as a stark reminder, then what is the problem in the USA?
