How Can We Achieve Age Diversity in Silicon Valley?

Thank you for your well-written article. What your article describes, IMHO, is age discrimination. It is prevalent in all industries and across the globe as if humans are preconditioned to ageism prejudice. I have friends in the recruiting field who told me that many of their clients specifically tell them not to present candidates who are over 50, regardless of skill and ability. I have experienced it first hand: in my 40s I was “hot stuff”. When I reached 50 it was as if I fell off a cliff and it took me a long time to understand what was going on. We will all eventually reach 40, 45, 50, 60…. The irony is that those folks who do not give the “older guys” a chance today will themselves eventually be faced with the same kind of prejudice. In an aging population this problem might take care of itself.
