As somebody who has used cheats in a game to I can say that reducing friction in a game can change it almost instantly from being rewarding to being a pointless exercise with no fun.

We have to be careful (in general, not just games) that friction is in the difficulty & complexity of the actions and skills required and not caused instead by frustration. There is a very fine line and if it’s crossed then what was a rewarding & difficult but fun experience can end up with you wanting to put the controller though the back of the TV !
