These Columns Stack Up Some Heat

Column radiators will enhance almost all properties because of their timeless and classic design. If you live in a period property, they really are the only kind that you should choose as modern art-form designs will look out of place.

Designer heaters are all very stylish, but they also come at a cost. If you should have a look at the column style you will realise that they are manufactured in all kinds of colours. A bright colour would look wonderful in a contemporary home if you want to make a feature out of it.

One of the most recognisable of these heaters is the cast iron version which has made a comeback in recent years. They would not look out of place in any home. Cast iron has been a tried and tested metal throughout the time that radiators were first produced.

This metal is slow to warm up but once it reaches the required temperature, it will hold on to it for much longer than the other metals now being used to manufacture heaters of all kinds. One drawback is that these particular models can get very hot to the touch, much hotter than any other.

It is advisable, therefore, not to have them installed if you have young children. They would certainly be unsuitable for children’s bedrooms or nursery unless you have radiator covers fitted over them.

These radiators are eminently suitable for older homes as they have that classic feel about them. If you should choose these above all others you need to know that these are easy to fit. You can even choose wall mounted ones as there is a slim-line version available for this purpose.

The free standing larger sizes are perhaps a better choice as this metal is very heavy and modern walls may not be able to carry them.

Whatever style you should choose, you should make sure that they conform to British Safety standards, which is denoted by a kite mark. Many substandard foreign reproductions slip through the net every year.
