Thanks for writing this. Automobiles are the most complex consumer product manufactured and to build a car company from scratch and achieve their run-rate is an amazing achievement. Numerous companies have tried and failed.

And while I’ve been a great admirer over the years of their technology and their thoughtful implementation, I was skeptical of their build quality and ability to follow through. But on a test drive last month of the Model 3 Performance model I was completely unprepared to discover how expertly they have executed the entire concept. I ordered one immediately and received delivery a few days ago — a flawless experience.

For those that are skeptical, I recommend going for a test drive. Handling and performance is at least that of European sport sedan calibre. But you will mostly be blown away by how completely and thoughtfully they have changed the entire paradigm of the automobile — interior functions and design, autonomous controls etc. Even the dealer experience (no sales pressure and the quickest, least cumbersome sales delivery experience I’ve ever encountered) is revolutionary.

It’s hard to justify their current market capitalization however, so while I hope they continue to innovate and prosper, they are going to be facing some tough competition as the rest of the industry has finally woken up.
