The book market is really difficult to penetrate into, especially for a new author. There are established writers who dominate this market so much that new authors often find it difficult to make a name for them even after they compose a great book. Readers, often influenced by the best-seller list tend to buy the established pens rather than trying newer authors. Publishers also know that selling an established author is easier and thus go for a known name over a newcomer. Overall, sometimes talented writers often are lost in our ignorance.

However, internet has opened up newer possibilities for all of us. Among other things, it has given us a platform where each of us can raise our voice. It has levelled the playground for a fair game. The new authors can also reap the benefits as well. To give them a platform to launch themselves, they can open a website and present their work to the world. These websites are often called author websites and they are slightly different from the common websites we come across. They are created with one purpose in mind, to gain more limelight and exposure to the author and his work or works.

New authors need to make their work popular by presenting it to the people and that can only happen after people spend time to read the reviews or the excerpt of their work. We live in a very busy world where it is difficult to force someone to spend that time. Great author websites manage this job by presenting the work in a catchy way to the reader, and the potential buyer, is intrigued and decides to spend time on the work of the author. This can be done by creating a website which looks awesome, which keeps the visitor glued to the content it offers, brings all the positive reviews to attention of the first time visitor and most importantly, place the right provocation or cues at the right places to buy the book, as that is the ultimate goal of the website.

This brings us to the most important topic of all, to sell the book by the author. This can be achieved only when the website has convinced the visitor that the book is really something worth investing time and money into. Thus, the website should maintain a complete purchase process and delivery process as well so when the user is ready, it takes him a couple of clicks to purchase the book.
