“Seven Million People Experiment” Day 6 Final Stretch Edition

Where we go from here is up to you.

Day Six — One more day to go for our seven million people experiment. For me, the time has flown by, and it seems like one epic day.

For some, it is the iPhone, for others it is the “Mac” (or its equivalent) and both have played a part in enabling our experiment. Mr. Wozniak and Mr. Jobs explored the realm of possibilities within themselves and around them and gave us tools that empower us to do the same.

Technology asks us to question everything about our world and ourselves. All progress throughout history is born from questions and rising as an individual or a community to find the answers. The question we are answering right now is how does a never before seen community of seven million people affect the individual? That question has reverberated around the world, and this is what I’ve learned thus far.

1. Mutual respect and active listening are the bedrocks of different cultures being able to communicate well together.

2. No idea is too small or too large in a global economy and if the timing is right, as it has been with our experiment enjoy the ride. If the timing is wrong, learn from it, move on or try again. Keep a smile on your face and some warmth in your soul as no matter what life is too short to do otherwise.

3. John Lennon sang, “Life is what happens whilst you’re busy making other plans”. He could also have sung “Life is what happens whilst you’re busy conducting experiments” and he would have been equally correct. That you all have made time to participate in this experiment is much appreciated.

4. People are what count. Technology is a tool, but it is people that give ideas life. If not for you and your support my question would never have left Mozart’s cottage. Thank you and I hope one day to be able to help you find answers to your questions.

5. This is a weird one and something I have never felt so acutely aware of before. Maybe it is attributable to this experiment being conducted entirely online. I feel support from men and women differently. With Ziad, Carlos and Scott, for example, I felt like an arm was slung around my shoulder and I heard “Ok where are we going, let’s go”. With Aisha, Joanna, Katherine and Rumyana it felt like each lady darted quickly behind me, pushed me gently forwards, whispered in my ear “you can do this” and then imperceptibly before anyone could realize what they had done they were on my other side as we all moved forwards in the experiment together. On my best day I do not possess the grace and class that seems to come so naturally to women.

All right tomorrow (Thursday) is Skype day. I’m really looking forward to speaking to each of you. Don’t let go of your momentum. Keep using your energy and creativity so that we know we have done everything we can to answer our little big question.

All Best,

Michael
