Sierra Leone :Africa Muslim Agency Donates Le425m Worth of Items to Victims

Africa Muslim Agency yesterday provided food and non-food item worth Le 425 million to the government of Sierra Leone to support victim of August 14 mudslide and flooding in Freetown.

Delivery the items to government, the Country Director Africa Muslim Agency, Ahmed Kamamine said that as an Agency they thought it fit that they should support the efforts of government in helping victims of the August 14 mudslide and flooding.

He said that as a Muslim Agency, it is incumbent on them to help the needy in time of stress and to give them. He said this is not the first time the Agency is supporting victims. He added that at Regent Village recently staff of Africa Muslim Agency distributed food and non-food items to those who affected.

The donated items include 500 bags of rice, 20 bags of milk, 50 bags of sugar, 10 bags of beans, 500 containers of cooking oil , 430 mattresses, 430 blankets, 430 kettles, 430 plates, 400 jerrycans, 400 bowls, 90 bales of clothes, 7 wheel chairs, 7 crutches and 4 cartoons of toy.

Kamamine, on behalf of his organisation, registered his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the disaster. He called on other organisations to support the government in alleviating the suffering of the victims.

“We will do more to supports as Muslim,” he said.

Receiving the donations on behalf of government, the Director of Children Affairs at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Mrs. Kadi Buya-Kamara thanked Africa Muslim Agency for their kind gesture towards victims.

She said that this is not the first time Africa Muslim Agency is doing such donation. “You are one of the people that are helping Sierra Leoneans,” she said.

“We will definitely give the items to the affected persons,” she said.

Mrs. Buya-Kamara said that the Government is on top of the situation presently and they are doing all in their powers to see that students who survived the disaster go back to school.
