SLFA President Calls for Development of Football

The president of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Madam Isha Johansen has called on members of the Sierra Leone Football Association to be united to develop football in the country.
She made this comment at the extra ordinary congress held on March 23, at the Siaka Steven Stadium in Freetown.
Madam Johansen said that this is the time for the football family to change the face of our country’s football.
She said that the 47 outstanding delegates have shown significant commitment in developing football.
She said that football is bigger then everyone in this congress. She urged them to put their differences away and move to another level of change.
She registered her profound thanks to President Ernest Bai Koroma for the outstanding leadership he shown in bringing peace and sanity to football.
SLFA president said that the football family has declared that they are ready to play football at every single level in Sierra Leone. She said for the Premier League to start, a budget has been drawn up.
She disclosed that the Premier League Board will be set up within the shortest possible time, if all recommended individuals are approved and have gone through the necessary integrity procedures.
Madam Johansen said, “I am a football association president with big dreams and vision for my country. My rise in football and my journey have been based on my dreams and my fight for a better future for our children and our country through football.”
“But ambition and dreams can only materialize with hard work. It has been a difficult past few years,” she said.
The Minister of Sports Ahmed Khanou said that the holding of the congress has been one of the most exciting moments for him as a minister of sports.
“I always told people that sports management is my area, as I don’t look at people’s faces and be scared of telling them what is right, because it not about me but the mandate of President Koroma who promised the young people in this country that he will lay his life for them,” he said.
The chairman of stakeholders, Mago Tarawally said that stakeholders are committed to lasting peace, noting that they are ready to participate in the upcoming Premier League.
He said that what they have done today has clearly shown Madam Isha that the Congress is bigger than her presidency. “We don’t hold anything against her; we just wanted the right thing to be done in football,” he said
