To introduce myself, I’m Jack and I recently joined Will at Detail to run the business with him. Will and I are best friends from school and have long spoken about joining forces due to our complementary skill sets (or at least we hope they are). It’s therefore incredibly exciting to start a journey that has been over a decade in the making.

I plan to use this blog to reflect and share the progress of our journey for those interested. However, for my first blog post I thought it appropriate to share a little about myself and the new direction that we’re chartering for the business.

My professional education has been in FMCG marketing, working at Unilever for seven years in multiple roles in both the UK and the Netherlands. It was a privilege to have learned my trade at, in my opinion, still one of the best marketing companies on the planet and to have worked with some truly inspirational leaders.

I joined Unilever on their Future Leaders Programme and held a number of different marketing roles; from more conventional Brand Management to Disruptive Innovation where I was responsible for pioneering new brands and business models.

Unilever gave me a brilliant grounding but am now incredibly excited to grow Detail. Will and I see 2020 as being a year of significant evolution, our proposition has expanded to include a strategic marketing competence, in addition to our capability in creative film production. In all that we do, we will maintain our obsession with delivering value for every client we work with — they are our sole reason for being.

It always amazes me how much time and money is spent on films that are subsequently never viewed - or at least not in any significant numbers - due to lack of time and thought when it comes to marketing and distribution. I believe Detail’s ability to understand film within the broader context of marketing strategy leaves us well placed to deliver value for our clients and help them achieve their business objectives.

We’ve had a hugely exciting start to the year and are very much looking to growing our client list and team over the coming months, and I personally can’t wait to see what the year holds for us. Thanks for reading and I look forward to keeping you posted on progress!
