So after a bad nights sleep and an anxious morning we finally kissed goodbye to the sleeping small and ended up in Starbucks with a bleeper.

So we are finally on our way. A biopsy, bone marrow and central line and a bit of a wait for the pathway going forward. With luck it will be something fairly straightforward, knowing small I am certain it might be more involved. Be positive the spiritualist healer said so lets do that, no matter how hard.

My rational, analytical programming brain is however planning out strategy and generally doing its best to keep moving forward like this is a problem I would come across at work. Find the problem, perform analysis, formulate a plan, execute the plan in discrete stages ensuring that all changes are tested and that the software meets expectations ad we move forward. When you are in an unknown situation I guess you always seek to apply your standard problem solving template.

Sitting in the ward waiting for the bleep that brings small back to us and starts the next leg of the journey. Bleep. Bleep. Bleep. Bleepity. Bleep.

Update: Well that’s all done, a bit upset and some oozing due to clotting factor issues which is apparently common in these things so they tell me. Another urine sample requested though so that’s the next thing once we get small calmed down. I am sure he will be bouncing back sooner than we think now we are in an environment he knows!
