What exactly should be considered part of the minimum common cultural scientific knowledge?

Is IA even a mature field that can be explained? Is it sufficiently sound and amendable to scientific methods?

What is more important: to explain the use of statistics by big content corporations (where technology is often secret), or in the biomedical world, where statistics are part of the public process and used to “prove” the “efficacy” or “effectiveness” (whatever that is) of common drugs, like vaccines?
