Monthly Mood Board Project
How am I feeling today? Like the color of a tangerine! Or crisp white linen , or leather and smoke, or puffy stickers. That might sound pretentious to some people (including myself, reading that back) but sometimes I find it difficult to express myself without visual aid. So in 2019 I started paying special interest to images that provoked strong feelings in me. And at the end of the month I put them all together.

January 2021 Mood Board, featuring art by @mmoriqomm, japanese jello ads and a picture of country singer Crystal Gale.
If you know what a mood board is, you know that they are often used on professional projects. Most fashion designers won’t start working on a collection without one. But I’ve found them to be very personally rewarding as well! I quickly saw the patterns between my visual interests and my emotions after I started. I took a year off in 2020 (as I did from a lot of other things) but I thought I should give it another crack!
If you would like to try this yourself, I highly recommend using Pinterest! You can quickly and easily consolidate images from anywhere on the web using their Google Chrome browser extension.
I’ll be writing about this every few months. In the future I’ll expound on what the images in these little collages mean to me!
