Why you should watch Ted Lasso!
Have you watched Ted Lasso yet? If not, you should. This dramatization has it all. It is a regular show but much more, making you acknowledge many known unknowns of life. It’s about an American soccer coach being appointed as a football coach of an English club. He is Ted Lasso. Whether you are a football fan or not, you can watch this show with indifference and still enjoy it. After watching this show, you would certainly think there is so much more to the game than being on the green grass. Ted, an earnest coach, despite lacking knowledge of football, tends to win over people with his words of goodwill, encouragement, belief, and biscuits.
Here are some invaluable things the show tried to convey,
Smile through pain, but do not hesitate to talk about it. Ask for advice. Make a little fun of yourself now and then, this way, you won’t give in when somebody else makes fun of you. Make the best of embarrassing moments.
Ted strongly believed in forgiveness, not judging people for the things they said or did during their weakest moments, but rather by the strength they showed when given a second chance to be better.
There is no denying that some people intimidate you, few more than others. The best way to deal with those people is to ensure they know they can’t get to you.
There are going to be many life-altering moments, moments that break you, moments you do not want to be in, well, Ted graciously says to be like a goldfish. Goldfish possess a ten-second memory; if you are not a goldfish, you would be miserable.
To “believe’ is the main ingredient of the show that Ted upholds throughout. Believe in yourself, believe in people you love, believe in people who have the potential to go the distance, and believe in anybody who exhibits courage.
It is very well shown that not everybody is aware of what they are supposed to be. That does not imply they are lost. They are just not sure in which direction they are heading yet. Few are given a chance, and every chance is a choice we have to make. It is our choices that show who we truly are, far more than our capabilities. Choose to be good, choose to be gentle, choose to be humane.
It is encouraged throughout the show to place oneself in another person’s shoes before judging. Ted popularly says, ‘Be curious and not judgmental.’ How beautiful the world would be if everyone would be inquisitive and ask rather than assuming.
If you have been feeling life is unfair and filled with selfish people, then this show will change your mind. Though fictional, it will make you think and gain perspective on life. The show shows how taking the high road and being good to someone for one’s peace is not that bad. We have all been through that! As it’s always said, be kind no matter what, Ted Lasso shows how it’s done. Optimism takes you a long way. It says, when all is said and done, what’s more important: being loving or being right?
