I Know Time Will Tell

I know time will tell

the truth about an unrequited love

and why it is so rude

and why it has one dimension

and why it is still on your skin

after too many candle-lit bubble baths

and why it works so hard to

tear down one half of your body

like you just don’t need

everything that was already there.

Until then it is a waiting game

for every bit of 1,000 years, I’m sure.

For now I will surf

this wave

of delusion,

bound up against this wall of defeat

that wears the thrill of you like

an ugly wallpaper.
