I’m a big podcast fan and listener. I started listening back in 2005, when you had to download standalone software to subscribe to feeds. These days, I use Apple’s built-in Podcasts app, but in the past, I’ve used Overcast, Downcast, PocketCasts, Stitcher, and probably a few others I’m forgetting.

One of my goals for 2017 was to read 50 books. I replaced Twitter with Kindle, switched from podcasts to audiobooks, and kept a couple of books in my bag at all times. I ended up reading 57 books this year, most of which were worth my while. Below is an alphabetical list of the very best, and the almost very best.
American Kingpin, Nick Bilton — The most entertaining book I read all year. I’m a huge fan of Bilton’s style, and his telling of the story of the Silk Road is outrageous.
