Beneath the Big Old Tree

I’m gonna make it to you to you to you and only you

It’s been a decade come and gone

Since I saw your eyes and I thought

That is someone I’m afraid to lose.

It came down to this before

But more often than not

I could care less about who came before.

But the hour struck 3

And you’d go home

And I’d take the bus out into the country —

I counted the minutes till I’d wake back up

And we’d be back in Mrs Austin’s classroom

It was never enough to steal your glance

I had to have your heart too.

And on that day back in 8th grade

When you kissed me on the cheek

When nobody was looking

It’s like that hall bled away

And every single last mistake

I ever made or ever would make

Melted away.

All that was left was me and you and the universe

Hand in hand — you made the blood rush right to my cheeks

I made a promise to myself that day.

I’m gonna make it to you to you to you and only you.

And now here we are 10 years later

And you’re more beautiful than any of these women that I see

Hayley Williams may be pretty but you’re one of a kind

Not a knock on other women —

But I want you to be mine,

And I’ll be yours and we’ll dance to “the only exception”

Because I once said I would not love Cus it does not exist

But then I met you.
