Prodigal — A Poem

I could break.

Oh, I could fall.

I could give up on it all.

I could turn.

I know I could run.

All it takes is one song sung.

All it takes is one –

Second to get lost along the way.

One moment to turn and say –

“I’m going. I’m gone. My song’s been sung.

Oh, I’m going on my way.”

I could walk.

Oh, I could run,

At any moment — right out that door.

I could stop,

Or I could go.

It just takes a second to say goodbye.

It takes just a second to –

Get lost along the way.

One moment to turn and say –

“I’m going. I’m gone. My song’s been sung.

Oh, I’m going on my way.”

There’s some words that I could say.

I could hurt you and walk away,

But what I need is for you to stay;

Because like the prodigal son

I could come home someday.

You could walk.

Yes, you could run –

Any moment right out that door.

You could stop.

Yes, you could go;

But it takes just a moment to come back home.

It takes just a second to –

Fall upon your knees.

One moment to look up and sing,

“You’re a good — good Father.”

For your love covers all our sin.

It takes just a moment to forgive.

It takes just a moment to come back home.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
