Wow. Great story, thank you. I live in Canada, and my knowledge of South Africa is limited to the “scary” and “dodgy” stuff I read in the news, so it is nice to read real stories about real South Africa.

Also, while going through University, I drove a tow-truck for a roadside assistance company, I have numerous experiences (and stories….) about picking up families that happen to get stuck in the “Dodgy” section of town. The hours were long, the weather could be horrible, the work was hard and could be dangerous; but helping me out always felt good.
