I Really enjoyed this piece. A few months ago I decided to try and learn how to code and I was really overwhelmed at the beginning, I didn’t even know what I should try and learn first. I figured just pick something and as I progress I should see a clearer path open up before me. I just wanted to see if I could make something simple like a Pinterest clone. Agonizing over details when you’re at the start is the least productive thing you can do so I chose Ruby on Rails and just dove in.
Long story short after headbutting books, YouTube tutorials and confusing Stackoverflow Q&A’s I figured out to make a half decent looking app. It might not be perfect and I might not have a solid grasp of the fundamentals but I do have skills I didn’t have before. More important still, I’m aware of just how much I don’t know, and that is a great feeling.
