The point was made for me that not a lot of 40-somethings are appreciated for their knowledge, especially if they aren’t part of the frat club. Male or Female. And it’s assumed, if you’re not this huge success by this point, then of course you need all kinds of advice…

I try to take the advice as love. If they didn’t love you, they wouldn’t say anything or even bother. My early acting career was like this. I got shut out with no advice, just no. Now if I don’t get a job, I tend to get a connection and feedback. It’s helpful, and it’s an opportunity to connect. Don’t squander that with an ego.
